Want to contribute?
Go for it, just as long as it’s related to Istanbul! Below’s a guide to what we’re looking for.
We’re a small online magazine with a tiny budget, so we don’t usually pay. But we’d like to support quality journalism, so we’ll pay for and publish one longform piece each month.
Please note, we don’t currently pay for photos.
For more information, or to send pitches and drafts, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
LONGFORM STORIES, ESSAYS & INTERVIEWS
At least 1,250 words
Optional (At least one for interviews)
15th of each month
Once a month
Pitch an idea or submit a ready draft. Stories may be fiction or non-fiction. If we like it, we’ll publish it. It has to be quality. We may make a few edits ourselves. But if it needs a lot of editing, we’ll ask for a re-write (or more).
As for interviews, it’ll ideally be someone who’s locally prominent or doing something worth knowing about. Someone who’s Google-able, at least. Chefs, writers, teachers, entrepreneurs, rappers, imams — it doesn’t matter — just as long as they’re fascinating.
500 words or less
Possible blog posts topics include (but are not limited to): restaurants, music, lifestyles, fashion, to music, books, current affairs, museum exhibits, technology, attractions, art or how bad Istanbul traffic is.
